About

Ready to make a splash? Your child’s first musical theatre adventure begins in the colorful, imaginative world of Bikini Bottom!

Welcome to Mini-Mainstage: Beginners , Playhouse Theatre Academy's introduction to the magic of musical theatre production! Designed for young performers ages 6–8, this special experience invites students to discover the joy of singing, acting, dancing, and creating together as they become an important part of The SpongeBob Musical company.

Throughout this 20-week program, beginning performers will build confidence and develop foundational theatre skills through age-appropriate rehearsals focused on character exploration, movement, music, storytelling, and ensemble work. Students will begin with their own dedicated rehearsal experience, learning performance skills and building friendships before joining the full Mini-Mainstage company as rehearsals progress.

In the world of Bikini Bottom, every character has something special to share—and every performer has a place to shine! Young artists will help bring this imaginative underwater world to life through colorful characters, creative movement, musical numbers, and ensemble moments. Along the way, they'll strengthen confidence, cooperation, listening skills, creativity, and self-expression while experiencing what it means to be part of a theatrical team.

Working alongside Playhouse Theatre Academy's professional teaching artists, students will learn what happens behind the scenes and onstage as they prepare for a final performance alongside the older Mini-Mainstage performers. This unique company experience allows younger artists to learn from older performers while discovering their own voices as young theatre-makers.

The session culminates in a final performance on the Playhouse on Park stage, where family and friends will celebrate the creativity, courage, and teamwork of the entire company. Whether they're dancing with the citizens of Bikini Bottom, joining a lively ensemble number, or stepping into a special featured moment, every performer will experience the excitement of seeing their hard work come to life.

So grab your imagination, your biggest smile, and your best nautical nonsense! Mini-Mainstage: Beginners — The SpongeBob Musical is the perfect first step into the world of musical theatre, where every young performer gets to discover the joy of being part of the show.
