About
Let's Play Music is a play-based music and piano course for children ages 4–6, taught in a small group by a certified teacher. Children learn most effectively through play, so classes are full of jumping, singing, skipping, storytelling and laughing — the eyes, ears, hands and whole body are used to learn concepts usually taught on paper.
The three-year program solves a real problem: a child is most ready to absorb music at an early age, but their fingers and letter skills are not yet ready. Solfege hand signs, folk songs, games, imagination and creativity are central to every lesson, alongside ear training, chord theory, classical music and note reading.
1st Year uses three instruments — the singing voice, the tone bell set for melody, and the autoharp for harmony and chord quality. 2nd and 3rd Years move to the piano, with each child at their own full-sized keyboard in class.
Each year is a full-year commitment and is a prerequisite for the next, so new students begin in the 1st Year. Graduates move into private piano instruction already knowing note names, rhythmic values and chord structure, and able to play scales and cadences in five keys, transpose and compose.
